Happy New Year. On a beautiful sunny day last week I joined with other members of the Basketry Collective to harvest willow in Suffolk. The colours are beautiful and it will be fun to work with the fresh willow, although I may have to wait until I get back from a much awaited 2 month trip to New Zealand and Australia. I am looking forward to seeing Maori and Aboriginal baskets and contemporary work – and to returning with lots of inspiration for making.
Since Christmas I have been exploring somband, plaiting maps and making cane (reed) baskets and platters.
Lastly I have taken the plunge and signed up for the Cambridge Open Studios in July 2015 (1st and 4th weekends) – more of which later.
