We had a busy time last week building our collaborative sculpture for the River Waveney Art Trail. Tues saw seven of us making bamboo pentagons and then trying to erect the geodome. There were a few nasty moments as some of the wiring snapped and we couldn’t figure out the layout, but after a break and lunch it all became clearer and by mid afternoon we were wrapping the joins using a variety of materials like jute, sisal, willow and cane. Three of us spent Wed afternoon adding fish and netting and Thurs Zoe heroically battled thunderstorms to add Judy’s fish mobile. Friday afternoon Susannah, Zoe and I put the finishing touches to the work just in time for the preview of the Trail. Thanks to all the members of the Basketry Collective – it was a truly collaborative effort!
There are some beautiful pieces by individual local artists (see below) and the Trail is well worth a visit.
